Jeb. My brother. What's going on? I was looking for something on archive.org and happened to see Oregon Trail Deluxe. I remember playing it with my kids so I decided to check it out. But Jeb.[More:]

Jeb. You got snake bit. It could happen to any of us. I get it. Twice? That's some mighty bad luck. Three times? Are you going out looking for snakes and poking them in the eye? I mean we have to stop and rest for you to recover and the down time is really starting to add up. Do you want to freeze to death in the mountains? Do you want cannibalism? cuz that's how you get cannibalism Jeb.

I'd never heard of this game before (I am not a gamer at all) and couldn't find anybody called Jeb. But I sort of freaked out at losing control of my pointer, so I quit probably before Jeb got bit by a darned snek.

Ha. It's a 30 something year old game from when it was thought games would be educational. You get assigned a group of travelling companions and they and you can get dysentery, measles, broken limbs and so on including getting snekbit. It's just weird that the same guy kept getting the same thing during the whole journey. My dude has a death wish.

It's older than that. I played it in BASIC in 1978.

I am also not a gamer. But I enjoyed the narrative.

My sweet kitty Ms Nibs is sitting next to me wanting pets and doesn't appear interested in gaming either. So I must not disappoint her.

Game away all!
