Canada - US currency Quick question: is US currency acceptable in Canada, or is it a pita to exchange there? Otherwise, is it better to exchange before going?

It is easy to use US money in Canada but your exchange rate can vary wildly depending on where you are shopping. Exchange before you go or at a currency place after you arrive. Along the border some places have bank machines that dispense US money.

Depending on your credit or debit card (read your card holder agreement) using your US card can be about the same cost as exchange but if your debit card has no chip and PIN it won't work many places in Canada.

Places of business near the border will usually post in their window if they accept it.
