Here are some rather crude instructions. I hope it will help.



Copy the address of the image. I control-clicked on the image to copy the image address. In this case the image address is http://imgur.com/ZVcpSfn.

From the posting area on metachat, click the image button to get this handy window to paste your image address into.

Paste your image address after the http:// with no space in between. Hit OK when your done.

It should look something like this.

Now you just need to add a bit of code so your image knows how big it should be in the area it has to work with. Add width="100%" after the image address and the quotation mark, but before the forward slash and closing bracket.

I've just moved the instructions here to simplify things.

I think I'm just going to give up on posting pictures to MeCha. If I have to hack in HTML to my post, I'm probably not going to do it.

Easier way is:

Right-click, select 'view image'. The image will open in a new tab (in Firefox it does, anyway)

Copy image link from the address bar

Click the 'image' button from the MeCha menu below the comment box

Paste the entire link into the box

Hit okay

Done

That's what I did and somehow people couldn't my picture.

octothorpe, it seems like your image was too large for mecha's layout so while it shows up, it gets clipped. If you don't want to add the width=100% in the code maybe you can scale it down before uploading to imgur?

I think that I'm just giving up on posting images to Mecha. It looked fine in preview so I had no way to know it was too big. I give up.

Hmm okay. One last workaround would just be to post the imgur link (as a link, not an image.) That way people can click-through to see your pic.
