Friday question NOT from the Book of Questions Because it seems appropriate this week -- if you could have a lifetime supply of one food, what would it be?
It's an interesting question. What kind of food can't you get enough of, doesn't get old.
Tastes that are interesting in the short run get annoying in the long run. Bland food is boring from the beginning.
I can't seem to get enough of egg, ham (gerookte beenham, Schwarzwalder Schinken, serrano, ...) , salami, artichoque, rookworst (like kielbasa I guess), sauerkraut, pilsner- & weizner beer, milk, stamppot, tomato based italian dishes, cheese (gouda, gruyere, emmenthaler, roquefort), the pizza of my local moroccan pizza place, sour cream & chives crisps...
If I had to pick only one, it would be cheese. Right now my favorite cheese is goat cheese, but I love almost all cheeses (usually, I like stronger cheeses such as blue and manchiego, but also love good brie.)
I'm going to say a salad with spinach, candied walnuts, blue cheese, goat cheese, croutons, apples, and breaded chicken. Little bit of everything so I can pick through.
I'm having a hard time answering this. Lifetime supply: should that be a healthy staple, something I know I always want around? Or something I just like a lot, and would appreciate as a regular treat?
Overthinking, I know. And as fond as I am of beans, I'm not going to request them.
I struggled with this one too - whether the definition of 1 food was 1 ingredient (I went quickly to eggs), or 1 dish (then I zoomed over to pizza with ground beef, banana peppers, roma tomatoes, artichoke hearts, spinach topped with gobs of mozzarella).
